ZyGoMediaShow 2.0 Captures and Synchronizes Streaming Videos

San Diego, CA - April 30, 2004

ZyGoDigital LLC announces the delivery of ZyGoMediaShow™ 2.0 to the Ballistic Missile Defense Program. ZyGoMediaShow 2.0, a part of the ZyGoCasting streaming video solution, now allows the viewer to save multiple streaming videos at the playback end.

This capability complements ZyGoCaster’s capability to save multiple streaming videos at the broadcast end of a streaming video session. The saved video streams are augmented with time code data so that all of the saved stream clips can be played back synchronously. The ZyGoMediaShow 2.0 viewing window can now be resized to show several videos tiled in a window while showing other applications on the same screen. ZyGoDigital has tuned QuickTime Streaming Servers to exhibit virtually no latency for the military’s Ballistic Missile Defense program, and demonstrates that real time video delivery to ZyGoMediaShow on a variety of network devices, including wireless PDAs.

Rod Sheffield, President and CEO of ZyGoDigital had this to say about ZyGoMediaShow’s new features: “The ability to save clips out of streaming videos at the viewer end of a streaming session, and to synchronize the playback of multiple streams easily is a new and unique feature. Until now, only progressive or “fast start” downloaded single videos could be saved remotely after the video completely loaded and played to the end. Our BMD customers stream videos and audio from Kwajalein, Kuai, and Kodiak to Colorado Springs, Huntsville, and Washington DC. The new features in ZyGoMediaShow 2.0 will allow them to create clips of the launch videos during the missions at the continental US locations, and to create briefings within minutes of the end of the mission. They use ZyGoCaster to save both compressed video clips and high quality DV or Motion JPEG video clips with time code and event tracks at the broadcast facilities to produce post-production style video presentations. We have also allowed the viewing window to be resized so that other applications can be run at the same time with the saved streaming video clips playing around that application’s display space. The base technology that allows us to save the streaming video remotely also allows us to play back QuickTime streaming video on PDAs and cell phones. We are showing demonstrations of this playback on Linux PDAs now, but will add other operating systems soon.”

San Diego based ZyGoDigital offers streaming video with XML annotations as a part of ZyGoCasting custom solutions. More advanced custom solutions can use the XML annotations in ZyGoVideo Pro:XT to create an event (such as an intruder alert signal) within the video stream, recognize it with ZyGoMediaShow, and create a video clip automatically at a remote viewing site. ZyGoCasting supplies the user with live broadcasting via ZyGoCaster™ capable of compressing and saving multiple videos simultaneously on Apple computers. Both compression settings and file addresses may be modified during the streaming broadcast, effectively creating video clips with different resolutions and data rates for later streaming broadcasts. ZyGoMediaShow,™ can also be used to tile videos on a single display (such as a Plasma screen) as a low cost alternative to video walls and to display metadata (the XML annotations) in synchronization with the videos.

Qualified requests for demonstration and contracting for ZyGoCasting real time streaming solutions can be arranged by sending email to: sales@zygodigital.com.
